Did you know that using a tool known as The Glycemic Index, you can lose body fat quickly? In most cases, you'll actually lose belly fat first, but this is an excellent eating plan which can help you lose fat from pretty much anywhere on your body.
When you diet or exercise, you're not able to choose the area of your body which fat will be burned off from. So anything which helps you to burn body fat in general will help you to burn fat all over. Since many people tend to carry most of their fat on their stomach and belly area though, this is where it tends to start burning off from first.
Now, the glycemic index is simply a chart which is used as a guideline to select the best types of foods to eat. This chart is based on how fast various foods turn to sugar in your body. There's a lot of medical science behind the Glycemic Index and how it works for helping you to burn fat, so we're just going to summarize that for you here.
When food turns to sugar inside your body very quickly, it causes a rapid rise - or spike - in your blood sugar levels. And these spikes cause your body to do a number of different things at once.
If you're in the midst of very active or strenuous physical activity, the extra sugar in your blood is put to immediate use providing you energy. If however, you are sitting at your desk, watching tv, or not doing anything overly physical, the body will turn that sugar into fat and store it for later use.
Now, different foods turn to sugar inside your body at different rates. And this is where the glycemic index comes into play. If you eat foods which have a high glycemic index rating or load, that food will be turned to sugar - and fat - inside your body quite quickly.
If however, you choose foods which have a lower glycemic load, then it takes your body much longer to process them. And because it takes longer for your body to process, it's much more likely that at least some of that food will be used for general energy and maintenance requirements. This means that not all of it will be turned into fat for later energy needs, and it will not be turned into fat as quickly either.
As an added bonus, foods which are rated lower on the glycemic index scale often help your body to use calories, energy, and fat... all as a part of the digestive process. Anything that takes longer for your body to process and use will automatically use more energy inside your body. And using more energy means you're able to burn more fat.
